「Windows PowerShell 2.0」は非推奨に ～「Windows 10 Fall Creators Update」から

　米Microsoft Corporationは24日（現地時間）、公式ブログ“PowerShell Team Blog”で、「Windows PowerShell 2.0」が「Windows 10 Fall Creators Update」から“非推奨”扱いとなる件についての詳細情報を明らかにした。

　「Windows PowerShell 2.0」は、2009年に「Windows 7」に同梱する形でリリースされた「PowerShell」のバージョン。「Windows Management Framework（WMF）」を通じて旧バージョンのWindows XP/Vista、Windows Server 2003/2008へも出荷されている。

　Windows 8、Server 2008 R2、およびWMF 3.0の一部として「Windows PowerShell 3.0」がリリースされると、「PowerShell」は“CLR2”（.NET Framework 2.0から3.5まで）から“CLR4”へと移行したが、古いアプリケーションとの下位互換性を維持するためのオプションコンポーネントとして、「Windows PowerShell 2.0」の利用は続けられてきた。

　しかし、最新版の「Windows PowerShell 5.x」では旧バージョンに比べセキュリティが強化されている。また、いずれ「PowerShell」のバージョンを「.NET Core」ベースの「Windows PowerShell 6.0」へ一本化したいという思惑から、「Windows PowerShell 2.0」は「Windows 10 Fall Creators Update」から“非推奨”扱いとなる。

　ただし、いくつかのMicrosoft製品が「Windows PowerShell 2.0」に依存していることもあり、すぐに削除されることはないとのこと。同社は今後数カ月をかけて「Windows PowerShell 2.0」からの移行を進めるとしている。“powershell -version 2”でスクリプトを実行しているユーザーも、「Windows PowerShell 5.1」または「PowerShell Core 6.0」などの後継バージョンへの移行を進めた方がよいだろう。また、“System.Management.Automation.dll”といった「PowerShell」関連のアセンブリを“CLR2”アプリで利用している場合は、“CLR4”への移行を行う必要がある。
